The Heart of Stable Strength
Our Story
In early 2022, a friend and fairy godmother of sorts rescued Atlas, a Standardbred, from a New Holland auction kill truck. Soon after, he would become mine.
He had spent his life on the track/pulling carts and had never carried a rider, meaning we had to build his confidence and balance from the ground up. Through dedicated training, my daughter and Atlas eventually flourished, even earning third place in the Breed Bonanza at the Equine Affaire in 2025.
While they succeeded, I personally struggled to ride him. I initially blamed his unique gait, but the reality was my own physical decline. Recovering from Lyme disease had left me weak and unstable, and despite my background in health and fitness, I wasn't prioritizing my own body's needs. I realized, as I started to feel better it was time to be a better partner for Atlas. I had to stop trying to change the horse and focus on myself. I committed to a consistent training program to regain my stability, strength and mobility.
After mere weeks I improved, the 'difficult' ride became smoother and more intuitive. My clearer aids and better balance transformed our communication, proving that my physical fitness was the missing link in our partnership.
This transformation led to the creation of Stable Strength.
We spend so much time on equine wellness—vets, farriers, and nutrition—yet often neglect the person in the saddle.
My mission is to help riders develop the stability and strength necessary to truly support the horse that carries them.
